Rain boots probably aren't the first thing that comes to mind when you think about summer. After all, spring showers are but a distant memory by the time July comes around. We were actually surprised to realize just how often we found ourselves reaching for rain boots last summer - even on blue bird days. As it turns out, rain boots are the perfect match for many of our favorite summertime outings.
Hiking & Camping For those who like to spend summer nights under the stars, there's a good chance you'll be camping near lakes or streams. Whether you're casting a line from the bank or hiking along a marshy shore, mud is pretty much inevitable - even when it hasn't rained for weeks. Skip the sneakers, don a pair of rain boots, and confidently tread anywhere you please. Mud wipes away easily at the end of an adventurous day.
Swimming Not everyone brings boots to the beach or pool, but we sure do. They're just so easy to pop on before heading back to the car, plus they have better traction on poolside concrete and changing room tile than the more conventional flip flop. Rain boots also offer better protection against hot sand, as well as a quicker way to warm up after splashing around a little too long in cold water. You might get a funny look every once in a while, but you'll be so comfortable you won't care.
Summer Camp Sending the kids off to camp? Send them with rain boots and they'll be ready for anything - from summer storms and running through sprinklers, to dewy morning walks and water balloon fights. Rain boots are also great at helping avoid prickles from burrs and bites from creepy crawlies. Simply tuck pant legs into the boots for quick and easy protection.
Whether you're going on vacation or opting for a "stay-cation" this year, you just might find that rain boots become your go-to summer accessory. Keep one pair by the door and one pair in the car, and you'll be ready for any adventure!
